 SPOTLIGHT

The Environmental Impact of Aviation
» CUEN Discussion Group: Tuesday 1st December

The Cambridge University Energy Network (CUEN) is delighted to welcome two research students from the University of Cambridge to participate in a Discussion Group on the impact of aviation on the environment: Speakers:

1. Antony Evans (Aviation Integrated Modelling Project, Institute for Aviation and the Environment) will be talking about the growth of aviation and its future environmental impact. He will also introduce the Aviation Integrated Model, a policy assessment tool for analysing aviation, environment and economic interactions at local and global levels. Antony will discuss some of the challenges associated with policy assessment and policy implementation in aviation.

2. Annela Anger-Kraavi (Cambridge Centre for Climate Change Mitigation Research, Department of Land Economy) will be discussing the possible strategies to mitigate this impact. So far there have been no global binding agreements for reducing greenhouse gas emissions from the aviation sector and, as the regulation of emissions from international transport is one of the negotiation items for COP-15 next month, Annela will be discussing the possible policies for aviation and their impacts on the global economy.

Come and join us at The Maypole, where we have hired the private room upstairs, for an evening of open, informal discussion on the impact of aviation in the future and the realistic means of mitigating this.

Food and refreshments can be bought from the bar downstairs.
